July 6, 2011
This evening, July 6, there is the first US showing of a TV programme called ”Is there a sixth sense?”, in which I appear along with Dean Radin, Daryl Bem and others. This is part of a series called ”Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman”. (The Science Channel, 10 pm ET/PT). From the small sections I have seen in preview, this series is unusual in that it is based on genuine curiosity, with a large input from Morgan Freeman himself.
Tomorrow, July 7, the new, fully revised edition of my main theoretical book, ”The Presence of the Past”, is published in the UK by Icon Books. This follows the new edition of my first book ”A New Science of Life” in 2009, and the new edition of ”Dogs That Know When Their Owners Are Coming Home” in the US in April this year. The first edition of ”The Presence of the Past” was published in 1988, and the new edition brings the science fully up to date and summarizes new research on morphic resonance.
My wife Jill Purce and I are both giving keynote addresses at the Noetic Sciences Conference in San Francisco on July 20, and pre-conference workshops on July 19. Mine is on ”Morphic Resonance, Collective Memory and the Extended Mind”.
In Cortes Island. British Columbia, I will be giving a joint workshop at Hollyhock from August 3-7 with Brother David Steindl-Rast, on ”Nature, Science and Spirit”. Brother David is a Benedictine monk and an old friend, and I am much looking forward to this time together. At Hollyhock, I will also be taking part in a public dialogue with Dr Andrew Weil on August 15. This is an annual tradition, and our dialogues from previous years are available in streaming audio on my web site here: http://www.sheldrake.org/D&C/dialogues/
From August 9-11 in my workshop at the Esalen Institute, Big Sur, California, I will be giving my first public presentation on the themes of my new book ”The Science Delusion”, due to be published in the UK in January 2012. Details of this workshop and of the rest of my schedule are online here: http://www.sheldrake.org/About/schedule/
This month’s trialogue with Terence McKenna and Ralph Abraham was recorded in the Botanical Dimensions garden on the Big Island of Hawaii in 1996, and is called ”What can Hawaii teach us about evolution?” http://www.sheldrake.org/Trialogues/index.html#hawaii
