Konferenser i höst:

SPR, vårt engelska systersällskap i England hade 4-6 september sin årliga konferens, dit bl a Adrian Parker åkte (och jag hade tänkt, men en förkylning satte stopp).

Intressanta teman var bl a ”hemsökta hus” och geomagnetisk aktivitet. På programmet fanns bl a Adrian Ryan om Dreams and geomagnetic activity, Eugene Subbotsky and Adrian Ryan med Motivation, belief and geomagnetic activity in a remote viewing task, Paul Stevens om Fractals, dowsing and sacred sites: Emergent information in the visual environment (apropå vårt föredrag nu i oktober med Paul Devereux), Caroline Watt and Richard Wiseman om The ghost in the machine: an internet survey of haunting experiences, Richard Wiseman om Ghost photography och Christine Simmonds-Moore om An exploratory investigation into empathy and the precognition of emotional faces.

Konferensen avslutades med ett symposium: Anomalous experiences and qualitative research, en aspekt man ibland missar i forskningen. Avslutande tema var Interpreting the anomalous: finding meaning in OBEs and NDEs.  

Strax efter denna konferens följde en vid Liverpool Hope University, den 7 september: Health, mental health and exceptional human experiences. Session 1, belief, mind and body berörde bl a healing, the mind-body connection, altered states of consciousness, the Interface Between Placebo Effects and Non-Local Aspects of Healing/Consciousness samt energy healing. Session 2, Mental health and exceptional human experiences berörde bl a meditation, samt Creativity and mental health.

Poltergeistfenomenet uppmärksammas. SPR ordnar en poltergeist-dag den 31/10 i London: Poltergeist outbreaks, then and now. Medverkar gör bl a Guy Lyon Playfair och Mary Rose Barrington. Se mer på www.spr.ac.uk.

Slutligen, IANDS i USA, som ju ägnar sig åt forskning kring nära-döden-upplevelser, har sin årliga konferens den 16-17/10 i San Diego. Som särskilt intressant tema ser jag jämförelsen Melvin Morse gör mellan NDUer hos barn och fjärrseende, och Charles Tart som helt nyligen kommit ut med sin stora bok The End of materialism.
