Ett mycket inspirerande inslag i tv i år var Kunskapskanalens program i mars månad, där bl a healing granskades på ett minutiöst vetenskapligt sätt. Deras intresse och strikta vetenskapliga sätt att närma sig komplicerade fenomen måste uppmärksammas och spridas.

Kunskapskanalen i tv redogör för seriösa studier av bl a healing
Kunskapskanalen i tv har haft några program av intresse, ett om healingforskning (och ett om akupunktur).
Kunskapskanalen i tv hade den 17 och 18 mars några mycket seriösa program om olika vetenskapliga studier av alternativmedicin, en gång om akupunktur, en kväll om healing. Det var precis den kritiska, öppna och vetenskapliga attityd vi förespråkar, därför bör de uppmärksammas. Programledare för serien var professor Kathy Sykes. I programmet om healing besökte hon olika forskningscentra och redogjorde för studier som var rigoröst förberedda och utformade, så man säkert skulle kunna dra slutsatsen att det var personen med påstådd healingförmåga som gav resultat, inte personen som utförde samma saker och låtsades vara healer. Dessutom jämfördes resultat från en healer och en icke-healer, så man verkligen kunde kartlägga om tron var det viktiga, som ju finns både för en riktig healer och för en låtsas-healer.
Vi hoppas kunna följa upp detta program och dess innehåll. Ordförande
i VoF (skeptikerföreningen) Jesper Jerkert och ledamoten Dan Larhammar som
ansvarar för just alternativ medicin, är uppmärksammade på programmen men har

Professor Kathy Sykes holds
the Collier Chair in the Public Engagement in Science and Engineering in the
Institute for Advanced Studies at the University of Bristol.
Kathy's work is mostly aimed at changing cultures to help scientists and
policy-makers find better ways of listening to other people's perspectives.
She is a member of the Council for Science and Technology, the Government's top
science advisory panel and sits on several other strategic panels in public
engagement in science, including those of the Wellcome Trust, the EPSRC and the
Royal Society. She is a Trustee of the Science Museum.Kathy Directs the
Cheltenham Festival of Science and, as Head of Science for five years, helped
to create the hands-on science center ExploreAtBristol.
She also helped to establish Famelab, a national competition where new talent
is found and nurtured in science engagement. Between her first degree and her
PhD in Physics, she taught Maths and Physics A level in Zimbabwe with VSO for three years.
She has featured on various BBC TV series, including 'Alternative Medicine -
The Evidence', BBC2's 'Rough Science' and 'Ever Wondered about Food'.
